Today, most modern cars equipped with an injection engine have an electronic box or computer. It is this box that allows an entire series of parameters to be controlled so as to make your engine work.
Chiptuning consists of optimising the program in this electronic box and thereby obtaining better performance and an increase in the engine's power.
WHAT WILL CHIPTUNING DO FOR ME ?
Everything depends on what you're looking for:
Chiptuning permits power to be increased by up to 25%, thereby providing better acceleration at high revs.
It also increases torque by up to 35%. In particular this gives you better acceleration when overtaking. The torque is also useful when towing a trailer or caravan.
Chiptuning also reduces your consumption by up to 10%. In fact, since you have to accelerate less to reach the same speed, you consume less.
WHY DOES ECOTUNING ALLOW CONSUMPTION TO BE REDUCED ?
It's at high revs that the engine consumes most. By acting on the engine torque at low revs, Ecotuning works in such a way that, for the same drive, your vehicle reaches the same speed in the same time with much less effort and therefore with lower consumption.
To summarise, by using the accelerator pedal less to reach the same speed, you consume less.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRONIC BOX (OR COMPUTER OR ECU) ?
Today, most modern cars equipped with an injection engine have a central unit, that is an electronic box or computer (ECU). It is this box that allows the quantity of petrol or diesel to be injected to be determined and which controls the moment of ignition or injection depending on several parameters: outside temperature, intake air density, throttle opening etc. All these data are stored in one or more memories called Eproms (Chip). So all the data necessary for correct running of the engine are to be found here.
Chiptuning consists of modifying the Eprom of a car or of any other vehicle equipped with an electronic control system. This will give you better engine performance.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR OPTIMISING THE ORIGINAL PROGRAM ?
Optimisation is achieved as follows:
- We measure the initial power on a bench with rollers and we read the data (original programming).
- We retain the initial programming so that we can reinstall it free of charge if you wish (for example if you sell your vehicle)
- We make the modifications to the original program.
- We input the new data into your vehicle's electronic box.
- We measure the new power level on a bench so as to guarantee you the gain in power achieved.
HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT THE POWER AND TORQUE HAVE REALLY INCREASED ?
You will find out when collecting your vehicle: more acceleration, smoother etc. But, in addition to that, thanks to our 4-wheel engine power bench, we are able to take measurements before and after any optimisation. So you can confirm with the figures and graphs at your disposal that the power and torque of your engine have definitely been increased.
IS THERE ANY RISK TO THE ENGINE ?
Absolutely no risk!
- The parameters are modified within the manufacturer's tolerances.
- The modifications are completely reversible. If, for example, you wish to sell your vehicle with its original power, we will reinput the original parameters into your engine's electronic box free of charge.
- Your vehicle's anti-pollution standards remain within the tolerances accepted by the manufacturer and you will pass your MOT without problems.
WHAT HAPPENS ABOUT MY VEHICLE'S GUARANTEE ?
There are no reasons why chiptuning would make any difference to your vehicle's guarantee. In fact:
- The parameters are modified within the manufacturer's tolerances.
- The technology adopted by Dynatek is based on that used by manufacturers
- .The modifications are completely reversible. If, for example, you wish to sell your vehicle with its original power, we will reinput the original parameters into your engine's electronic box free of charge.
- Chiptuning is invisible since it does not require any additional equipment such as an extra box or special wiring. It is only the electronic data that are modified.
- Chiptuning cannot be detected since, unless one has ultra-refined equipment (which garages do not have), it is impossible to confirm the modifications.
WHY DID THE MANUFACTURER NOT ORIGINALLY ADJUST THE BOX TO ITS MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE ?
There are several reasons for this:
- Manufacturers adjust their engines to allow for different constraints. Cars must drive just as well in Finland in the winter as in Morocco in the summer and do so regardless of the driver's style of driving.
- The quality of the fuel is not identical in all countries. This is why manufacturers must strike a compromise in the original programming so that every vehicle will work anywhere.
- Many manufacturers restrict their car engines for tax reasons.
WHAT ARE DYNATEK'S GUARANTEES ?

- The proof, via a run on the bench, demonstrating the improvement in power and torque before and after the optimisation of the original program. It is impossible to conduct this demonstration on the road.
- The guarantee that the modification is made only by inputting electronic data without any additional equipment such as an extra box.
- Free-of-charge reprogramming with the original data if for example you want to sell your vehicle with its initial performance.
- The free-of-charge reinput of the modified program (in the event that your dealer or garage has had to update the original software).
